In Mongolia, the horses live outdoors all year, dealing with temperatures from 30 °C in summer down to −40 °C in winter, and they graze and search for food on their own. The mare's milk is processed into the national beverage airag. Some animals are slaughtered for meat. Other than that, they serve as riding and transport animals; they are used both for the daily work of the nomads and in horse racing.

Regional races with finals for yearlings are held in October. Horses that do not pass inspection are either sent back to a breeder as they can be used in events or tourism, or to feedlot.

Competing horses are mainly solid-coloured, but there have also been pinto ban'ei horses and two dominant whites.

The Taishū is a rare Japanese breed of small horse from Tsushima Island in the Korea Strait, in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan.

In 1989 the population was reported as "critical" at 89 head. In 2007 it was listed by the FAO as "critical-maintained", and a population of 30 was reported in 2008.

The Taishū is small (~123cm), with strong legs. In the past, it was used for transport on the narrow paths between remote villages in the mountains of the island.

"Indra" is from Naruto.

The Pantaneiro is a breed of horse originating from the Pantanal, Brazil. A descendant of the Spanish colonial horse, it is mainly used for working livestock in its region of settlement, which is partially flooded for part of the year. Having had a studbook since 1972 and a selection organization, the Pantaneiro forms a rather common breed, although not very widespread.
In the 20th century, the breed was crossed with the Anglo-Arab, the Thoroughbred and the Arabian, which modified its conformation and its beauty. In 1988, a census counted the presence of at least 10,000 Pantaneiro horses throughout Brazil. The Pantaneiro is linked to the group of Spanish colonial horses, or to that of the Iberian horse.
