This is a locally adapted horse, not a native breed. These ponies are also ridden in traditional costume during equestrian parades that are very popular among the Bajau. The pieces of harness used are : «seriau» for the bells, «tingalu» for the colored reins, and «kakang» for the bridle, constituting a very festive parade costume for the pony.
